    13th December 2017

Didn’t think it was possible to drink your way to a healthier you? We’ve cherry-picked a collection of the best Christmas detox smoothie recipes to help you feel at your best in case the excesses of the festive period are leaving you feeling bloated, uncomfortable and in need of something tasty, yet nutritious.

Christmas Detox Smoothie from Samantha’s Kitchen Table.

This fruity drink is packed with fibre and iron from the spinach and flax – layer the two smoothies for a fun two-toned drink.

    Ingredients

    Red layer

    •  1 ripe medium banana
    • 1 cup frozen strawberries
    • 1/2 cup your favourite milk
    • 2-4 tsp honey or agave nectar

    Green layer

    • 1 cup frozen peach slices
    • 1/2 medium ripe banana
    • 1/2 cup vanilla Greek yogurt (any yogurt is fine)
    • 1/2 cup your favourite milk
    • 2 tbsp ground or milled flaxseed
    • 1 cup fresh baby spinach
    • 2-4 tsp honey or agave nectar

    Instructions

    1. For the red smoothie, blend banana, strawberries, milk and sweetener in a blender.
    2. Pour into a separate container and place in freezer. Rinse out the blender before beginning the second smoothie.
    3. For the green smoothie, add the peach slices, banana, yogurt and milk into the blender and blend well.
    4. Add the flaxseed, spinach and honey and again, blend well.
    5. Layer the smoothies into one mega smoothie or into two smaller glasses. I found the strawberry smoothie to be a bit thicker so I would recommend putting that one on the bottom.
