Beginners: 3 hacks to kickstart your workout routine
18th May 2018
It’s not too late to get your summer body! For even the laziest of us out there, there are great little tips requiring very little effort to make staying healthy and fit a doddle. That’s a double win, right? Here are three hacks to get your body moving.
1. Work smarter, not longer
Start your day with a short and sweet workout. That doesn’t mean it won’t be intense but something’s got to give if it leads to spending less hours in the gym, right? Go for a high intensity interval training (HIIT) class as the nature of the repeated bouts of high intensity workout periods followed by varied rest phases keeps your heart rate up and helps to speed up your metabolic rate so you can burn calories quicker.
2. Get social and fit at the same time
Surround yourself with other friends who are getting fit so that when you get together, it won’t feel like a workout. Run together, try a new gym class together, lift weights together…it should all be fun; not a chore. What’s more, you’re less likely to bail on your buddy if you’ve got a fixed workout date in the diary.
3. Limit your sitting time
Lots of us are sedentary during the day: in the office, watching TV, eating meals, and so on. While it’s not always possible to break into squats in the office, there are a few moves we can rely on during advert breaks in the evening. Try this 15-minute workout to make the ultimate use of your couch and cushions.
It’s never too late to make a start and working out doesn’t have to be a drag either. Motivate yourself to get moving and you’ll be so glad you tried these tips when you’re sunning yourself on a beach in your favourite bikini. If you’re trying to watch the calories, why not swap the milky latte for a herbal tea instead? Our Daytox tea has a delicious fresh, lemony taste and gives you a boost to power you through your workouts.
